A Baby born now could live to age 142?

If you look at the February 23 2015 issue of Time Magazine you might think so.

Why do they think this?

Because scientific facts point to this possibility. Now, this doesn't mean everyone is going to do this. But, it is likely some babies born today will. Another fact that has been true at least 15 years now is this. If you live to be 30 you likely will see 90. This is also true in a relative sense too. So, when you see articles with titles like: You may be retired more years than your career lasts: this is true too.

Since the average career lasts 30 to 40 years this is also something to think about too.

If a baby grew up and went from high school and into college and graduated by 22 then worked in a career for 30 years they would be then 52. If they worked 40 years they would be 62. but then if they retired and live to 142 how long would they be retired?

The baby would then be retired 80 years.

So, preparing for retirement might be important more so we don't all just have to work until we die like many do now, both here in the U.S. and around the world.

Source for the 142 year figure is: Time Magazine with the baby on it: February 23rd 2015.
